Chennai Metro Rail Limited recorded more than one crore passenger trips during September 2026. Its official release said 1,00,26,601 passengers travelled on the network between September 1 and September 30.
September 11 was the busiest day of the month, with 3,93,580 passenger trips. The monthly total includes journeys made using the NCMC Singara Chennai Card, paper QR tickets and digital options such as WhatsApp, ONDC, Paytm, PhonePe and the Chennai One app.
CMRL also highlighted discounts available on the NCMC card and several digital QR ticketing channels. The milestone shows the growing role of Chennai Metro for daily commuting and makes reliable ticketing, station access and future network capacity increasingly important for passengers.
